As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. The German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) with five partner locations all over Germany as the national diabetes research center has the task of showing new ways of prevention and therapy of diabetes by the close interrelation of basic research, clinical research and applied research. The purposeful use and interconnection of all research data therein plays an important role.

Computer scientist (f/m/d)
Implementation of a Neo4j graph database, adaptation and extension of the graph model, administration of the Neo4j database serverIndependent creation and adaptation of Cypher queriesImplementation of routines for automatic import and export of (meta)-dataImplementation of a user-friendly interface and visualization of the dataIntegration of other (public) databasesIndependent creation and support of hardware and software solutionsAdministration and maintenance of servers of the DZD (Unix)Connection of IT infrastructure of different DZD locations
Completed apprenticeship or higher education in a relevant field (computer science, (bio)informatics, medical computer science, etc.) or comparable qualificationExperience in development of databases, ideally graph databasesIdeally experience in processing biochemical/medical dataProficient use of Python and R, ideally Cypher/SQLIdeally experience in Machine Learning techniques and/or frameworksHigh self-initiative, creative analytical and problem-solving thinking and good team playerVery good skills in written and oral German
