The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (General Organization) (KFSH&RC-Gen Org) is a tertiary care, state of the art Hospital situated in the cities of Riyadh, Medina and Jeddah, and soon to operate in Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. KFSH&RC is accredited by the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA), Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) and American College of Radiology (CT and Ultrasound). Our combined bed capacity of 960 beds is dispersed over three locations. KFSH&RC is the national subspecialty referral center for Oncology, Organ Transplantation, Cardiovascular Diseases, Neurosciences and Genetic Diseases; also running postgraduate education programs that support both Residency and Fellowship Training. Expansion projects are planned, King Abdullah Center for Oncology & Liver Diseases (KACO&LD) is now open and we are providing our services in the Children’s Cancer Center (CCC) as well.
The Radiology Department provides a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in support of the tertiary care programs provided at the hospital. All specialty areas of imaging and intervention are staffed by 36 fully qualified consultants, 165 professional technical staff and 57 support staff. About 32 qualified nurses also provide support to the department. The department features 8 MRI suites; 7 CT suites, including 64-slice and dual energy CT units; 18 Ultrasound rooms including thos for US-guided interventional procedures; as well as 5 Angiography (1 Hybrid OR); 3 Fluoroscopy; 3 PET/CT scanners, and digital mammography scanners; the latter with tomosynthesis capabilities. The X-Ray modalities have been replaced with state-of-the-art digital units, all networked with high performance PACS technology. Additonally, there is a state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine section equipped with 5 gamma cameras including 2 SPECT/CT units, performing a multitude of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The Department provides sub-specialized consultant expertise in all areas of medical imaging as well as vascular and non-vascular minimally invasive therapy/interventional radiology. Other available facilities include Teleradiology and a 3-D lab. In 2018, the total number of exams performed was 276,726, all monitored by various quality indicators and dashboards, supervised by dedicated quality assurance staff
Qualified candidates for this post must have graduated from an accredited medical school, completed the required period of training, in the specialty and sub-speciality, with Board certification & membership or fellowship status in the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, or equivalent. The chairman candidate should have post training (residency and fellowship, if applicable, i.e. after board certification or equivalent) independent clinical experience of at least (10) years and must have teaching and research accomplishments. Publications records must be original articles in peer-reviewed journals and the number of publications should be a minimum of 10. Administrative experience as Chairman/Deputy Chairman/Head of Section/Head of Medical Service or similar position should be a minimum of (5) years. Academic appointment in a reputable university is preferable.
