The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for the following academic position (starting October 1st, 2020)
Chair of Internal Medicine
The head of the Clinic for Internal Medicine will be responsible for profiling of the clinic through specialized services and outstanding research and teaching. To take advantage of the broad interdisciplinarity and the high competence of the clinical location, it is essential to establish a close network with the main partners at the University Hospital Zurich. For this purpose, a convincing long-term concept for the development of the field as well as an actively managed concept for young scientists are to be presented and implemented.
We are looking for an internationally renowned colleague with a broad background in internal medicine. Candidates should have several years of leadership experience as well as excellent knowledge of clinical practice.
The research priorities should complement the existing research foci at the medical faculty. In order to ensure excellent interaction with other internal medicine disciplines, in particular a research focus in the following areas would be attractive and promising: polygenic diseases and polygenic risk factors for diseases; precision medicine; or systems biology of chronic diseases. Applications with the focus areas of rare diseases in internal medicine, differential diagnostics of unclear internistic disease or psychosomatic disorders are also welcome.
Applicants should have a habilitation or habilitation equivalent. Applicants should have achieved outstanding scientific qualifications and should demonstrate successful acquisition of competitive third-party funds. Knowledge of business administration is an asset.
Fluency in German, both written and spoken, is mandatory. This position requires an integrative personality strongly interested in social developments, whose profile is complemented by a high level of social competence.
