The new Chair will provide strong strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the department. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership skills to the position, will have a strong sense for how to manage all missions, will have the ability to lead through change in a collegial manner, and be able to successfully leverage the many collaborative opportunities that exist at the University. This person will complement the strengths of the department and will have made significant contributions to academic Neuroscience.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, and will have academic credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of full professor. Demonstrated leadership in academic investigation at the university level is required. · Appointment at the rank of professor with tenure requires documented sustained excellence in research and teaching, significant scholarship, and a national and international reputation;
· Demonstrated leadership in academic medicine at the university level;
· A commitment to teaching excellence;
