Salary: Grade 3: £19,202 - £22,017 p.a.
The University requires a Building Services Assistant to work with the Facilities team of the building to help maintain the building and building services to ensure that they are running smoothly, efficiently and are sustained in a clean condition. This position is full-time on a fixed-term contract for 3 years in the first instance.
Under direction of the Deputy Facilities Manager you will be expected to carry out routine building maintenance including painting, condition checks and occasional cleaning tasks. Facilities tasks include setting up meeting rooms, litter picking and collection/moving of certain items. You will also be responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the buildings three autoclaves and in helping the Goods-In Technician for the stores area. In the absence of the personnel primarily responsible for these areas you will be expected to be able to run these services, for short periods of times, under direction of the Deputy Facilities Manager.
You will be able to communicate effectively with staff and visitors at all levels and be able to work independently and effectively as a member of a team. You will possess the technical knowledge and experience in building services repair and maintenance, health and safety issues and manual handling at work. An ordered and disciplined approach to work with excellent attention to detail is an essential requirement.
Previous experience of working in a similar, demanding environment would be advantageous.
You will initially be employed and funded through the Nuffield Department of Medicine but working for all Departments within the building.
