The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a unique non-university research center which is dedicated to the study of dementia as well as other neurodegenerative diseases. For the DZNE site in Ulm, we are inviting applications for a Biostatistician (f/m/d) as Junior Research Group Leader for a New Research Group “Clinical Study Center” Code 6010/2020/6 Successful candidates should have a PhD in Statistics or an MD with a Master’s degree in Biostatistics. Of particular interest are scientists with expertise in design and conduction of clinical trials neurodegenerative diseases. The primary criteria for appointment will be a strong record of innovative research and academic performance, as well as high potential for establishing a rigorous and substantial independent research program, and fruitful collaborations. The candidates shall have experience in the design, conduct and analysis of interventional / pharmaceutical trials in neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, candidates shall have experience with the collection and use of biomarkers and a track record of excellent publications. The Ulm site is engaged in translational research of neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal dementia and Huntington’s disease, and open to investigation of other diseases. Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the public sector collective agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TVöD). The appointee will be enrolled in the DZNE tenure track program, with an initial appointment of five years. Extension for two additional years is possible, based on a positive interim tenure review. Tenure may be awarded to exceptional investigators beyond this period. In addition to salary support for the appointee, DZNE provides salary support for several group members (e.g. postdoctoral trainee, technician, or doctoral student) as well as a budget for research consumables.
