We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist to work at the leading-edge of Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) in the soft x-ray range. I21-RIXS [diamond.ac.uk] is a newly constructed high-efficiency beamline delivering world-leading flux and spectral resolving power. Using energy and momentum dependent RIXS, scientists are able to study the emergent electronic and magnetic phenomena of novel quantum materials. The successful candidate will take a major role in the operation, maintenance and optimisation of the facility and its associated software. We seek individuals with excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills combined with a flexible approach to manage the requirements of the beamline and its user community.
We welcome candidates with experience in areas covering many-body condensed matter physics research using x-ray spectroscopic and scattering techniques. In particular, candidates with experience in theoretical modelling, such as multiplet calculations and/or density functional theory, are encouraged to apply. A candidate appointed at a senior level will need to demonstrate an internationally recognised scientific research program in an area relevant to the beamline and its user community.
