Associate Professorships (x2) in Systems Biology and Cancer Biology at the University of Pavia, Italy

The Department of Molecular Medicine of the University of Pavia is a large Department hosting approximately 30 research groups active in both preclinical and clinical research programmes in the following fields of: (i) genetic diseases of the heart, bone and nervous system, (ii) degenerative diseases such as amyloidosis, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer caused by protein misfolding, (iii) cancer and, (iv) tissue and organ regeneration. The Department received core funding from the Italian Ministry for Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) under the recent Departments of Excellence Initiative , coordinates a new international PhD Programme in Translational Medicine and has access to state of the art equipment for molecular and cellular research in the central University Core Equipment Facility including high performance computing, super resolution light microscopy, cryo electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, X-ray crystallography, cell sorting and pre-clinical in vivo imaging (MRI and micro-CT).

The Department seeks to appoint two new members of staff to the following tenured positions:

The person appointed will have a strong track record in systems biology or related fields of research and will build a strong research programme involving both computational and experimental systems biology approaches to the study of tissue/organ development, regeneration, inflammation, degenerative diseases or cancer.

MM02. Associate Professor in Cancer Biology (starting gross salary: € 54,034 per year).
The person appointed will have made original contributions to the molecular or cellular basis of cancer and will build a strong research programme in areas such as cancer genetics, epigenetics, progression, metastasis, microenvironment or cancer immunity.

The above positions are partly funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) and it is a requirement for application that candidates are:

Informal enquires are strongly recommended before completing your application. Enquiries about these positions or other group leader positions available at the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Pavia can be obtained from Professor E. Gherardi (egherard@unipv.it).
Formal applications including a full academic cv, the names of three people familiar with the work of the candidate and a brief (up to 2,500 words) programme of research should be submitted by email to Dr S. Burgess before the 13th of September 2019.
