Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor (or Professor) of Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at Worcester College under arrangements described in the Job Description and Person Specification. The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.

We wish to appoint a candidate whose research interests involve work applying organic chemistry to advanced materials/polymer science, such as for organic semiconductor devices, microporous or bioinspired materials.

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in a field relevant to research at the interface of organic chemistry and materials science, and have a proven track record of high-quality research and publication at an internationally excellent standard, along with evidence of imaginative research plans and the potential to lead and manage new research initiatives. The post-holder will be required to engage in original research at the interface of organic chemistry and advanced materials/polymer science; to collaborate with existing staff; to secure research funding, and to carry out teaching, administration, and demonstrating at undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will also teach undergraduates at Worcester College, as well as participating in the administration of the subject and in the wider life of the College.

Benefits of the Tutorial Fellowship at Worcester College include Governing Body membership, a housing allowance of £9,594 per annum (or access to rent-free accommodation in the initial period), a research allowance of £1,752 p.a., a study room in college, and full college dining rights.

An allowance of £2,804 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and Worcester College, 1 Walton Street, Oxford, OX1 2HB.
