The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy (FKF) at the Faculty of Science, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for two associate professor positions in experimental physics to be filled by 1 June 2020. Application deadline: 1 February 2020.

The successful candidates are expected to establish independent research programmes within either quantum physics or soft matter physics, which will complement and expand our existing experimental physics activities.

Requirements and Expectations
Research: The successful candidates are expected to have a relevant MSc and PhD degree in physics or related area within either experimental quantum physics or soft matter physics. Furthermore, they must have a strong and independent research profile as documented by an excellent track record of peer-reviewed publications and a proven ability to attract external funding. Potential collaborative possibilities with physicists (and other researchers) within the department will be an advantage.

Teaching: The successful candidates should have a strong teaching record. This includes experience in teaching courses within the physics curriculum at bachelor and master level as well as experience with project supervision at all levels from bachelor to PhD. Documented experience with development of new courses using future teaching methods, through e- learning, flipped classrooms and online learning methods, will be an advantage. Teaching in English is accepted. However, the successful applicants are expected to learn basic Danish within five years, and the university offers language courses.
