*Associate or Senior Editors — Nature Ageing

London, New York, Berlin or Shanghai*

Springer Nature, the publisher of Nature, is looking to recruit Associate or Senior Editors for Nature Ageing, a new journal that will launch in 2021.

Nature Ageing will publish ageing research in its broadest sense, providing a home for significant advances in the natural, health and social sciences alike. The journal will bring together those seeking to understand ageing and diseases of ageing at a molecular and cellular level with those applying this knowledge to increase human lifespan and healthspan, and those addressing the societal and ethical challenges arising from our ageing populations.

The range of topics and disciplines to be covered includes (but is not limited to): molecular and cellular biology of ageing, ageing and stem cell biology, rejuvenation and tissue repair, physiology of ageing and longevity, diseases of ageing, gerontology, geriatrics, mental health and ageing, clinical interventions, biomarker studies, epidemiology and public health and socio-economic aspects of ageing.

We are now looking to recruit Associate or Senior editors for the journal: this is an exciting opportunity to join the team that will help shape and launch a new academic journal, to present a fully cross-disciplinary picture of ageing research. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant discipline, and preferably postdoctoral experience, with a strong research record.

The successful candidates will work closely with the Chief Editor and, together, the Nature Ageing team will work on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and peer review, the commissioning and editing of Reviews and News & Views articles, and also writing for the journal. Nature Ageing will be part of a dynamic editorial and publishing environment that also includes Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Cancer and Nature Neuroscience.

These are demanding and intellectually stimulating positions. Broad scientific knowledge and training, excellent literary skills, the ability to absorb new areas of research, and a keen interest in the practice and communication of science are all required. Applicants should be dynamic, outgoing and have excellent interpersonal skills. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the scientific community through laboratory visits and international conferences — willingness to travel is essential.

The positions will be based in one of our international offices: in London, New York, Berlin or Shanghai. Please state your preferred location in your application.

To apply, please send

· a CV, and a brief cover letter explaining your interest in the post;
· a ‘Research Highlight’ style piece (up to 200 words) on a recent paper from the scientific literature.

Closing date: 24th February 2020.

Please apply via recruiter’s website.
