The Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva is opening a position of full associate or assistant professor (tenure track) position at the Department of Astronomy*in the domain of Physics of Galaxies and Observational Cosmology.*

INSTITUTE: The Department of Astronomy of the University of Geneva offers a modern and vibrant scientific environment with renowned researchers in the domains of stellar physics, extra-solar planets, galactic and extragalactic astrophysics, observational cosmology and high-energy astrophysics. It hosts a Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research, and is also actively involved in major space missions of the European Space Agency and in instrumentation.

ASSIGNMENT: Full-time appointment including lecturing in the domain of extra-galactic astrophysics (max. 6h/week) at the Bachelor, Master, and post-graduate level, and supervision of Master and PhD theses. The successful candidate is expected to conduct world-class research in the domain of Physics of Galaxies and Observational Cosmology and attract external funding. Persons with vigorous observational projects and possible implications in the development of instrumentation are encouraged.

ACADEMIC TITLE REQUESTED: PhD or equivalent. Experience in research supervision and teaching. Publications in high-ranked international journals.
