We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly organized graduate to manage and develop a portfolio in the Chemistry Books Editorial team at Springer. A successful candidate will share our passion to serve and support the research, education and professional communities by putting them at the heart of all we do, delivering the highest possible standards in content and technology, and helping shape the future of publishing for their benefit and for society overall.
Solicit, read and evaluate book proposals offered by authors/editors, as well as assess their suitability for publication, in particular in the fields of Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemistry & Energy, Theoretical & Computational Chemistry
Identify authors and support them in developing and producing their projects
Meet goals set by editorial management such as contracts signed and manuscripts handed over to production
Manage the existing lists associated with the assigned subject area, and maintain profitable relationships with Editorial Board Members, (book series) authors and advisors
Negotiate contract terms with authors/editors
Remain a point of contact for authors/editors throughout the publication process
Manage the back-list, making decisions on publishing potential and new editions of successful titles
Identify market potential and developing new products and titles to suit those markets
Academic degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline. A background in Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemistry & Energy, Theoretical & Computational Chemistry is preferred.
Fluency in English, both orally and written
High level of computer literacy (including MS Office, Outlook and internet browsers), proven experience with social media is preferred
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels and as part of a team
Positive and proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership to drive and complete tasks
Strong organizational skills, including proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
Prepared to travel frequently
