The Department of Basic Sciences at Loma Linda University, School of Medicine invites applications for an open rank tenure-track faculty position in Bioinformatics to begin in August 2020. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active research program leading to peer-reviewed publications. The successful applicant is expected to engage in their own bioinformatics research, collaborative research with other LLU investigators, teaching, and supervision of both master’s and PhD students in the Neuroscience, Systems Biology, and Bioengineering (NSBB) graduate program. The candidate will also help to develop curricula in Systems Biology/Bioinformatics as part of this program. The applicant must have completed a PhD in bioinformatics/biostatistics or in the biosciences with an extensive bioinformatics component. When evaluating applicants, weight will put on documented experience and qualifications in analyses of genomics data including next-gen sequencing (NGS), RNA-seq, DNA-seq, genome-seq, ChIP-seq, DNA methylation, or bisulfate sequencing and microarray data. Also, knowledge and experience with NGS pipelines, R, R/Bioconductor, and Python are required. Experience with contemporary methods such as Nanopore and CITEseq for single-cell sequencing is desired. Personal qualities, such as ability to collaborate, clear teaching and communication skills, and scientific leadership will be emphasized.
