Assistant/Associate Professor in Control of Respiratory Tract Infections (salary scale W1/W2)
Associate professors (W2) will be offered an initial contract for five years, with the possibility of extension following a successful external evaluation. Assistant professors (W1) will be offered an initial contract for 3 years which can be extended for another 3 years following a successful external evaluation.
We invite applications from both medical and science graduates. Emphasis should be laid on host pathogen interactions within polymicrobial communities and on the interplay of environmental and inherited susceptibility factors to lung infections. Translational aspects of the research are expected.
We are looking for an individual with a proven research track record in diseases of the respiratory tract who will complement the research programme of the Department of Pediatric Pneumology, Allergology and Neonatology and participate in the research program of the Cluster of Excellence RESIST. The successful candidate should participate in one or several of the collaborative research centres (CRC; “Sonderforschungsbereiche”), directed by Hannover Medical School (MHH) and the research programes of the German Centre of Lung Research (DZL) and the German Centre of Infection Research (DZIF) pursued at MHH.
Applicants are expected to have a very good publication record, to have been successful in winning competitive research grants and to have experience in teaching at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. The successful applicant should become involved in the MHH undergraduate course in medicine (HannibaL), as well as in MSc courses and structured doctoral programes. Applicants should also have proven team-oriented management and communication skills.
