The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine seek candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in the non-tenured Clinician-Educator (CE) track. The CE track at Penn is a standing faculty track with expectations of clinical, research and teaching activities.
The successful candidate will have experience in the field of Genomic Diagnostics and will serve as an Assistant or Associate Director within the Division of Genomic Diagnostics to meet the needs of our expanding program. The Division performs a wide range of tests for diagnosis of both constitutional and cancer disorders, although the successful candidate will focus primarily on constitutional disorders. Responsibilities include clinical test sign-out for our primarily pediatric population, quality control, innovation and test development.
Faculty in the CE track are expected to develop a national reputation in an area of academic focus, with this work being either investigator-initiated or collaborative and associated with appropriate publications and some degree of funding. The Perelman School of Medicine and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia are known for emphasis on translational research and the candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong record/potential in clinical, translational or collaborative research.
The successful candidate will also play a role in teaching of fellows, residents, medical and graduate students.
Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and clinical care. Candidates must hold American Board of Medical Genetics certification (or eligibility) in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics, or Molecular Genetic Pathology certification following Pathology residency. Physicians must be eligible/licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Experience with Next Generation Sequencing is required.
