The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zurich invites applications for an
Assistant Professorship in Coronary Artery Disease.
The position is limited to six years and hosted at the Department of Cardiology of the University Hospital Zurich.
The University of Zurich is committed to further strengthening clinical research in the field of coronary artery disease at the Department of Cardiology. Cardiovascular medicine has experienced impressive advances during the last years and has become a rapidly evolving and highly specialized field. The development of personalized therapeutic concepts for patients with coronary artery disease is of outmost importance to further improve patient outcomes. This Assistant Professorship is hosted at the Department of Cardiology of the University Hospital Zurich and expands the existing field of coronary artery disease research. The Department of Cardiology of the University Hospital Zurich is one of the leading cardiovascular centers in Switzerland. Over 3’500 patients are treated in the Andreas Grüntzig Cardiovascular Catheterization Laboratories each year, including over 1’700 coronary angiographies and 1’700 percutaneous coronary revascularizations, along with more than 400 structural interventions.
With its stimulating and attractive environment for interdisciplinary research, the University Hospital Zurich is among the leading European centers in cardiovascular research, including basic, translational, and clinical research.
The Assistant Professor represents the subject in teaching, research, and clinics. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic concepts for patients with coronary artery disease. The Assistant Professor must be committed to innovative and engaging teaching both at the Bachelor and Master level as well as in specialist training.
Candidates are expected to have a post-doctoral lecture qualification (habilitation) as well as a board certification in cardiology. Clinical experience in interventional cardiology is mandatory. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong and visible clinical research programme in the area of coronary artery disease. He or she has a strong background in clinical research, particularly in the area of coronary artery disease and coronary revascularization, or related fields. An integrative approach to these topics as well as an international research profile showing synergies with other research areas in the Department of Cardiolo-gy is welcomed. Good knowledge of the German language is required due to the close contact with patients.
We are looking for candidates that complement the current strengths of the department and have an outstanding track record in research addressing an advanced understanding and treatment of coronary artery disease with innovative approaches. Strong ties in research are in place with the Department of the University Hospital Zurich, the University of Zurich, and the ETH Zurich.
