Assistant Professor (W1) of Green Biotechnology with Tenure Track (W2)

We are seeking a personality with a research focus on the molecular biotechnology of plants or algae. The successful candidate shall investigate molecular processes in green organisms and develop an independent, innovative and internationally visible profile. The research should aim to develop modern biotechnological applications based on excellent fundamental research. The Institute of Plant Biology and Biotechnology offers an exceptionally stimulating research environment, excellent working conditions and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The junior professor position will have the support of a part-time research assistant (public service tariff TV-L E13; 65 %) for six years.
The successful candidate is expected to be open to active collaborations with other research focus areas within the Faculty of Biology, other faculties of the University of Münster, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology (IME). They should also be prepared to participate in nationally and internationally coordinated research initiatives. Active participation in the teaching duties of the Faculty of Biology within the bachelor and master’s of science programmes (in particular MSc Biotechnology) and the master’s of education programme is expected, along with postgraduate teaching. An appropriate level of self-management and contribution to administration is also required.
Prerequisites for the position are a higher education degree, matching qualifications in the subject area and in teaching, as well as a relevant doctorate. Further research experience at a higher education institution or non-university research institution in Germany or abroad will also be beneficial.
