The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Auburn University, Alabama, is seeking to fill a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 16, 2020. We seek applicants who specialize in Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes, with proven expertise in Mathematical Finance or Applications in Science or Engineering


Duties include maintaining and expanding the current research program in Mathematics and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. An earned doctorate in Mathematics by the appointment start date is required and applicants should have strong evidence of quality research and teaching in Mathematics. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required.


The department has a PhD program and various MS programs, including Statistics and Data Science and Engineering. Its faculty counts about 50 mathematicians and it has more than 120 graduate students engaged in research in multiple areas in mathematics and statistics. Auburn University’s strong and numerous research programs present many opportunities for interdisciplinary research and for participation in its various multidisciplinary programs. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community, teaching, and research.
