The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for the following academic position Assistant Professor (non tenure track) for experimental and translational Ophthalmology.
The assistant professorship is based at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital Zurich, which also is the home of the Laboratory for Retinal Cell Biology (LRCB), a basic research laboratory of strong international reputation. The new laboratory for experimental and translational ophthalmology will establish an interactive partnership with LRCB and use translational research in the field of degenerative diseases of the outer retina to bridge the gap between basic research and the clinic.
The assistant professor represents the subject in research and teaching. Active participation in teaching within the framework of medical studies, education of medical specialists, continuing student education as well as promotion of young academics is expected.
As an applicant, you should be able to demonstrate a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements. Your active research work in the field of retinal research should be internationally recognized. Furthermore, you are expected to be willing to carry out translational research in cooperation with the Department of Ophthalmology. You represent a team-oriented attitude, are committed to interdisciplinary cooperation and are highly motivated to promote young scientists. Good organizational skills and a high degree of resilience are required.
