At the Division of Insurance Medicine, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, we study different aspects of sickness absence, health, work and living conditions. Sickness absence affects individuals, health care, insurance organizations, employers, and society. The main focus of the research group MENTE is at the intersection of studies within psychiatric epidemiology and insurance medicine. The performed studies are translational and deal with ethiology, treatment and prognosis of mental disorders and suicidal behaviour. We offer a stimulating scientific environment as well as a possibility to collaborate with other researchers at the division, in Sweden and abroad.Your mission
We are looking for one Assistant Professor that is expected to conduct studies in psychiatric epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology and migration research. The work will be conducted in collaboration with other researchers in the group. The Assistant Professor will mainly work with study planning, data management and statistical analysis, manuscript writing, and grant applications.
The employment as Assistant Professor is time limited for 4 years with the right to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer.Eligibility requirements
Those eligible for employment as an Assistant Professor are individuals who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence. Preference should be given to those who were awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence no more than five years prior to the expiry of the application period for the position as Assistant Professor. Those who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence earlier may however be considered if special grounds exist. Special grounds refer to illness or parental leave.
The successful candidate must have experience of register and epidemiological research as well as data management and analysis using, e.g., SAS, STATA, SPSS, or R. Extra merit is given to applicants with previous experience of research in the areas of psychiatric epidemiology and/or pharmacoepidemiology. Excellent English skills are a requirement. The work involves close collaboration with others and demands flexibility and excellent communication skills.Bases of assessment

An Assistant Professor employed in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4 Section 12a shall be promoted to Senior Lecturer if he or she is eligible for an employment as Senior Lecturer in accordance with the Instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet and is assessed to be suitable for such employment in accordance with the assessment criteria that KI has decided should be applied when being promoted to Senior Lecturer. The assessment criteria stated in the Instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet that was valid at the time of appointment as Assistant Professor will be applied when applying for promotion to Senior Lecturer. Current assessment criteria is found here. Such promotion results in a permanent position as Senior Lecturer.
