The Department of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Vermont is seeking to recruit a Cell Biologist/Biophysicist at the Assistant Professor level on the Tenure-Track, although Associate and Full Professor candidates will be considered.
The Department has significant strength in protein structure and function with emphasis on motor and cytoskeletal proteins. The ideal candidate will complement existing departmental expertise in molecular biology, single molecule biophysics, proteomics and structural biology, with an emphasis on mechanisms that govern cellular function, which may be altered in cardiovascular disease or other human pathologies. Experience with organismal model systems and approaches is encouraged. The candidate is expected to maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program. The candidate also must be willing to team-teach physiology and cell biology in a medical and graduate school setting. Start-up funds will be competitive.
The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service. Applicants are requested to include in their cover letter a diversity statement and information about how they will further this goal.
