Job description:

Your Job:

This Bachelor or Master Thesis involves the characterization of magnetic nanoparticles, both magnetically and structurally. To do so, chemically synthesized iron oxide nanoparticles with a diameter in the 10-20nm range are used. The thesis will be based on:

  • Investigations of structural properties of the nanoparticles with respect to their internal crystallographic structure using X-ray diffraction.
  • Investigations of the mesoscopic arrangement of particles using small-angle X-ray scattering
  • The characterization of magnetic properties using magnetometry and susceptometry

Your Profile:

  • You are studying physics, chemistry, engineering, medical physics, medical technology or a related discipline and are looking for a topic for a Bachelor or Master thesis
  • You are interested in and ideally have a background in solid state physics, physical chemistry, nanotechnology or nanoscience
  • You are able to work independently and responsibly, show motivation and commitment, are a team player and enjoy collaborating with other scientists
  • You have a very good command of both written and spoken English

Our Offer:

Our work is at the forefront of cutting-edge, innovative issues, offering you the opportunity to actively help in shaping change! We support you in your research with:

  • A large research campus with green spaces, offering the best opportunities for networking with colleagues and also pursuing sports alongside work
  • An interesting and socially relevant topic for your thesis with future-oriented topics
  • Ideal conditions for gaining practical experience alongside your studies
  • Excellent scientific equipment
  • Qualified supervision by academic colleagues
  • The opportunity to work autonomously in the preparation and implementation of the tasks assigned
  • The possibility of working remotely for part of the time, e.g. working from home
  • Flexible working hours

We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, e.g. in terms of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation / identity, and social, ethnic and religious origin. A diverse and inclusive working environment with equal opportunities in which everyone can realize their potential is important to us.
