The CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute (CCMR) through the support of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation is developing an innovative, single cell technologies (SCT) research platform that requires a Platform Manager, a Platform Technician and a CRISPR Technician. The SCT Platform will include state-of-the-art instrumentation enabling: 1) the isolation of single cells (BD Bioscience, FACSMelody); 2) the characterization of single cells (10X Genomics, Chromium Connect and X); 3) the quantitative phenotyping of single cells (Molecular Devices, ImageXpress HT.ai; Akoya Biosciences, PhenoCycler Fusion; BioTechne ProteinSimple, Jess); and 4) Cancer modelling (CRISPR Cas9 library).
The platform will be managed by a small team of dedicated personnel including an SCT Platform Director, an SCT Platform Manager (posted position), an SCT Platform Technician and a CRISPR Technician, who in consultation with the SCT Platform User Committee (comprised of Principal Investigators/Senior Scientists) will oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and sustainability of the technologies. Reporting to the SCT Platform Director, the SCT Platform Manager (posted position) will drive and participate in activities to ensure the proper operations/usage of the technologies by an array of users (frequent and sporadic), with an overarching goal of maintaining platform longevity through proper usage and the coordination of preventative maintenance visits. The SCT Platform Manager is expected to have and continue to build a strength in single cell biology and its application in quantitative studies and consult/support the development of experiments and grant applications of users and Senior Scientists. Through engagements with SCT Platform team and User Committee members, the SCT Platform manager is expected to develop a comprehensive training program that encompasses both conceptual (presentations) and technical (hands-on) training that includes the development and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Manager is also expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the technologies and their application in research, actively promote/advertise the platform to recruit new users, develop online scheduling/billing forms, organize, and participate in User Committee meetings and complete annual reports.
