Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel to the Global Environment Facility: Panel Member for International Waters
The mission of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) is to safeguard the global environment by supporting developing countries in meeting their commitments under multilateral environmental agreements on biodiversity, desertification, climate change, and chemicals.
The Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) provides independent scientific and technical advice to the GEF on its policies, strategies, programs, and projects across its portfolio.
STAP is seeking an International Waters Panel Member with outstanding academic and technical credentials; a passion for tackling global environmental and sustainable development challenges; expertise in International Waters; and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary, integrated manner to bridge scientific, technological, economic, social, and policy issues.
Panel Members provide intellectual leadership in their particular area of expertise, and are expected to work effectively across the GEF’s activities, including advising on cross-cutting issues and integrated programming, i.e. outside their area of expertise. Panel Members also contribute to the development and implementation of STAP’s work plan
Panel Members are expected to work up to 65 days a year and remunerated based on the standard UN rates for consultants. Appointments are for two years and may be renewed for a further two years.
