Full Professorship (W3) of Biochemistry and Chemistry (Chair)
commencing as soon as possible.
The applicant should be an internationally recognized scientist who contributes to a better understanding of biochemical and chemical processes in veterinary medicine using state-of-the-art methods/technologies. The applicant’s activities are expected to extend into teaching, research and administration. The new building on the Campus in Oberschleißheim will be a state-of-the-art facility with excellent equipment ideally suited to realize the vision of the future chair.
Prerequisites for this position are a university degree preferably in veterinary medicine, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program that comprises basic as well as applied research. Special attention will be devoted to the regulation and function of proteins (and their modifications) in specific cellular processes (e.g. adhesion, signaling, growth regulation). An excellent international network, substantial expertise in biochemistry and chemistry as well as experience in acquiring national and international third-party funding are mandatory requirements. We expect intensive cooperation with the relevant scientific institutions within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Munich research community to strengthen the focus on One-Health and translational medicine and to develop new therapeutic approaches.
According to domestic legal guidelines (TAppV) the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching chemistry and biochemistry in their entire breadth to veterinary students.
As communication with students, staff, industry and stakeholders will require knowledge of spoken and written German, it is pertinent for the successful candidate to demonstrate the sincere willingness to become proficient in German.
