Department Director (m/f/div)

The Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Physiology invites applications for the position of Director. Applicants should be highly qualified internationally recognized experts in their field of research which could be in the general area of chemical and physical biology, mechanistic biology, or developmental biology with a strong molecular component, but other areas of modern research in the life sciences are not excluded. There should be a willingness and ability to interact with or complement other interests in the institute, including mechanistic cell biology, systemic cell biology, and structural biochemistry of large complex systems. Candidates should have demonstrated an outstanding ability and innovative potential, and these aspects are more important than their current level of seniority. Their work should be characterized by a high level of scholarship and scientific stringency. They are expected to show continued creativity as well as academic leadership and should be dedicated to mentoring younger scientists. The institute and the Max Planck Society offer outstanding working conditions including generous long term core funding and excellent scientific infrastructure that is continually modernized.
