Full Professor in Onco-Immunometabolism
within the Department of oncology UNIL-CHUV

The CHUV and UNIL are seeking to recruit a scientist with a highly recognized expertise in immunometabolism and targeting metabolic crosstalk in the tumor microenvironment.

The position will lead an independent research group in the Lausanne Branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at UNIL/CHUV and the immunometabolic bioengineering program, to support with advanced discovery work on the development of cancer immunotherapies targeting metabolic crosstalk in the tumor microenvironment and metabolic regulation in cellular therapy.

Main missions:
• Run and supervise a research laboratory with activities focused on immunometabolism and cancer immunology, embracing both fundamental and translational research.
• Develop research activities on bioengineering approaches to tailor metabolic circuits for T cell and macrophage-based therapies.
• To be responsible to direct immunometabolic bioengineering program to facilitate translational activities in Lausanne and collaborative forces with other branches of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
• Develop pre and postgraduate teaching activities on the biology of immunometabolism in both adaptive and innate immune cells, the tumor microenvironment, and metabolism-epigenetic crosstalk.

Desired profile:
• PhD degree with world-class expertise in immunometabolism, the tumor microenvironment and metabolic targeting applied to cancer research.
• Outstanding research track record in immunometabolism, cancer immunotherapy with a particular focus on metabolic targeting, the tumor microenvironment and metabolism-epigenetic crosstalk.
• Strong communication and leadership skills in driving clinical applications and collaborations with national and international research groups.
• Strong leader skills to run and oversee an interdisciplinary translational research laboratory group.
• Successful example(s) of clinical translation for cancer immunotherapy (cytokine, antibody, and small molecule based metabolic targeting).
• Willingness to translate immunometabolic research into clinical activities.
• Experience of teaching immunometabolism and the tumor microenvironment at an international level.
• Previous experience with setting up immunometabolism lab.
• Experience in obtaining external competitive research grants.
• High-quality publications in peer reviewed journals
• Good knowledge of French (LM or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it quickly.
