Job description:The Institute of Solar Research of the DLR conducts research into the technical and economic optimization of solar thermal energy generation at four different locations in Germany and southern Spain. The research and development activities are always application-oriented and close to industry. In the Solar Power Plant Technology department, scientists and engineers are developing the autonomous solar power tower of the future. At solar power tower, optical measurement methods already support operation by providing a variety of different image and video data. For future applications, the researchers plan to collect these image and video data via a common media infrastructure and store them in a data platform so that they can be made available to the various control, regulation and monitoring applications for further processing, preferably in real time. Your task is to develop the basis of this media infrastructure and test it in use at our research power plant in Jülich. You will first design a concept for connecting heterogeneous camera systems to a data platform based on an (OpenVidu/Kurento) media server. The system should include the following functions:image/video data processing:
- flexible acquisition of raw data from different camera systems
- storage of the raw and metadata of the camera in an (already existing) data platform
- live display of image and video data from each camera system when the power plant is in operation
- functions to start and stop as well as to configure the camera systems
