Our PhD Program:
Chiba University starts “Innovative Medicine CHIBA Doctoral WISE Program (iMeC-WISE)” accepting PhD students from October 2020. With the support by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, iMeC-WISE aims to nurture outstanding PhDs in medical sciences. The program will provide students with excellent integrated education and research environments in cooperation with many outstanding institutions including RIKEN, University of California San Diego (UC San Diego), University of Toronto and University of Southern California.
Applicants must meet our requirements for enrollment:
- Master’s degree (or comparable) with a background in medicine or the life sciences
- Proficiency in English equivalent to IELTS Band Score 7. We require a test score
Our Program Offers:
Program students will receive:
- Enrollment fee and tuition waiver
- 2,400,000 yen/year for four years and additional support for outstanding students
- Competitive research grants up to 600,000 yen/year
- Opportunities to pursue double PhD degrees in Chiba University and another top research university (e.g., Immunology Program of UC San Diego)
