The protection and security of critical infrastructures is an essential basis for the economic prosperity and stability of states and societies. The Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infra-structures is dedicated to this task and develops concepts, procedures and technologies that can be used both to assess and to increase the security of critical infrastructures.
The department "Strategy and ELSA Research" complements the research projects of the insti-tute to ensure that projects are carried out with a high degree of responsibility towards society. For this purpose, the department bundles competences from the fields of law, humanities and social sciences and uses them in an interdisciplinary way. In addition, research is conducted on ethical, legal and social aspects of innovative fields of technology and relevant threat scenarios.
The position offers the opportunity to dedicate oneself to a task of particular importance for the Institute and society. It is expected that these topics will be approached with interdisciplinary approaches and that research will be conducted in close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders in order to meet the complexity of the task at hand. It is expected that practicable solutions will be developed that can be applied in the context of the various technology devel-opment projects and that will increase the acceptance of new technologies by future users (e.g. authorities and organizations with security tasks).
The position comprises the following principal activities:
research into the social implications, framework conditions and requirements for responsible security research conception and implementation of accompanying research on research projects to take account of societal aspects in the context of security research research into the societal aspects of hybrid threats, among others
