Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures
Area of research:
Scientific / postdoctoral posts
The Maritime Security Technologies Department develops solutions for a wide range of technological problems; this forms an essential part of the implementation and testing of innovative system concepts for the protection of maritime infrastructures. Our work includes the development and demonstration of novel system functions capable of recording, evaluating and visualising the protection status of maritime infrastructures in real time and, as far as possible, automatically. These system functions need to be effectively embedded in complex monitoring systems.
Central topics of the department are data acquisition and fusion, data processing including predictive analysis to assess potential future hazards, securing both the system itself and the technology on site and developing a real-time database and storage infrastructure. Due to the central importance of a situation picture for the smooth operation of the corresponding infrastructure, the credibility and security of the recorded and displayed data is a fundamental condition for the acceptance of the IT solution provided.
The position includes both the scientific elaboration of the state of the art in the field of cyber security and the actual implementation of the approaches, which emerge as the most promising solution in this evaluation.
