The Institute of Software Methods for Product Virtualization addresses the digital description of an aircraft with all its properties and components based on highly-accurate models covering all disciplines, the whole development process and the entire lifecycle of an aircraft. Prerequisites for this are multidisciplinary simulation methods and process chains / platforms, which are geared to the efficient use of future high-performance computers. The High Performance Computing department works together as a center of excellence with other DLR aeronautics institutes. Within this framework, subject-specific simulation software should be analyzed and further developed with regard to its parallel efficiency in order to make the best possible use of all levels of hardware parallelism. High scalability is a key factor in accelerating the simulation process and calculating results as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.
Among your challenges and tasks are:
runtime analyzes for the specific simulation software development of concepts to increase efficiency by selecting problem-adapted programming models, parallelization and acceleration methods performing prototypical tests to verify the selected methods implementation of the developed concepts into the specific application software analyze and optimize efficiency on selected hardware architectures performing quality control and systematic testing documentation of the programmed software and the results achieved demonstrate the higher parallel efficiency of the software for industry-relevant applications publication of results at scientific conferences and in renowned journals
