How it works:
On the first day of the Innovation Cup summer camp, a conference with alumni from previous events will be organized with ample networking opportunities. During the course of the week, selected postgraduate students will attend in-depth presentations about the pharmaceutical and chemical industry given by our management, scientists and external experts. Participants will work in small interdisciplinary teams to generate an innovative idea that addresses a scientific challenge and develop the idea into a business plan.
The team oncology will work on new innovative approaches for the targeted treatment of cancer with small molecules or proteins either directly attacking cancer cells or via stimulating the immune system and overcoming the immunosuppressive environment of tumors.
The team autoimmunity will work on innovative approaches for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as e.g. Lupus.
The team medicinal chemistry will work on innovative approaches to discover, screen, design and optimize new small molecular drugs
The team protein engineering will work on innovative approaches to discover, screen, design and optimize new protein based drugs
The team artificial intelligence/machine learning will work on innovative in-silico approaches, machine learning and AI algorithms and smart applications to support R&D in drug discovery, life or material sciences
The team neuromorphic computing will work on innovative system architecture and chip components and their interdependencies, reliable, energy efficient memristive systems based on new materials and stack design, software & algorithms complementing novel neuromorphic hardware
The team smart manufacturing will work on innovative approaches for AI-driven energy saving, digital twins for manufacturing process optimization and top notch digitalization and automation solutions
Teams will receive coaching and guidance from experienced veterans of our company, the summer camp moderator and our innovation management. You will learn the essentials about R&D within the pharmaceutical and chemical industry and understand how products are successfully discovered, developed and brought to market. You will learn to evaluate your ideas from a technical and business perspective and build a convincing business plan.
The teams present their business plans to a grand jury composed of our top management plus external experts. The jury selects the best business plan and awards the Innovation Cup and the prize money of EUR 20,000 (EUR 5,000 and EUR 3,000 for second and third place).
