About the Role
Springer Nature, the publisher of Nature, is looking to recruit an Associate or Senior Editor for Nature Energy. Launched in January 2016, Nature Energy publishes high-quality research and opinion across all aspects of energy, from its generation and storage to its distribution and management, the needs and demands of different actors, and the impacts that energy technologies and policies have on societies. The journal’s scope includes the natural and social sciences as well as economics.
We are currently seeking a candidate with a strong background in energy economics, energy modelling, other social sciences related to energy, or energy engineering to join our team as an Associate or Senior Editor. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge across a range of energy topics, including energy systems analysis, energy markets, and the integration of renewable energy sources into grids. This role presents an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Nature Energy.
As a member of the editorial team, the Associate/Senior Editor will maintain the visibility, scientific standing and quality of Nature Energy.
Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Chief Editor and a team of editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, commissioning, editing of Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, and other content, as well as writing for the journal.

Determining and championing the representation of relevant social science and engineering fields in the journal.

Liaising with the research community through institutional visits, conferences, and other means.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Essential:
-
Applicants must have a PhD, with a strong track record in research relevant to the fields covered in the journal.

Broad scientific knowledge and training.
-
Excellent literary and communication skills.
-
The ability to absorb new areas of research.
Desirable:
-
Postdoctoral experience.
-
Previous editorial experience.
This job is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

and a News and Views-style piece (no more than 600 words) on a recent paper from the energy research literature that they have enjoyed.

US Annualized Base Salary Range: Associate Editor: $74,000 | Senior Editor: $91,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
