The College of Pharmacy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, invites applications for a full-time (100%) LEO Lecturer III position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences [Lecturers Employee Organization (LEO)]. We seek a dynamic and experienced educator with a commitment to excellence in teaching and a passion for advancing the field of pharmaceutical sciences. This appointment will be on an annual basis with renewal contingent on performance. During the 3rd year a mandatory review will be conducted for continuation of appointment beyond the 4th year. The successful candidate will be expected to dedicate 75-90% effort to teaching and 10-25% effort to administrative or academic service duties. This position will report to the Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate (BS students) and graduate courses (master, PhD and PharmD students) in pharmaceutical sciences, including but not limited to physical pharmacy, drug formulation, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and analytical methods.

  • Develop and enhance course materials, syllabi, and innovative instructional methods.

  • Mentor and advise students on academic and career development.

  • Participate in departmental and college service activities, including curriculum development and faculty committees.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of educational programs through assessment and evaluation.

  • Engage in professional development activities to stay current with advancements in the field.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent) in pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related field is required.
  • Some previous teaching experience at the college or university level, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development is required. 
  • Experience in designing and delivering courses in various formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  • A record of professional engagement and achievement in the pharmaceutical sciences community.
