Professor (W3) for Quantum Technologies in Medicine
management responsibilities
The Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Medical Faculty intend to jointly fill a bridging professorship for Quantum Technologies in Medicine. The professorship will be established in a newly founded institute for Quantum Technologies in Medicine at Ulm University Medical Center.
The new professorship will adress topics related to the implementation of new quantum technology methods for future applications in the field of Biomedicine. In particular, the focus will be on methods that enable a fundamental improvement in the understanding of physiological, metabolic and molecular principles non-invasively. These will enable new approaches in diagnostics and therapy in the context of personalized medicine. A particular research focus will be on the translation of quantum-enhanced imaging and sensing methods across multiple scales into clinical practice and research. The professorship will serve as an important link between existing medical research and established quantum sciences.
The successful candidate has a nationally and internationally recognized scientific profile in the application of quantum technologies to life sciences. Collaborations with the main research areas on campus and experience in establishing research networks are expected.
The bridging professorship will be responsible for teaching at the intersection of Quantum Technologies and Medicine.
Employment requirements are completed university studies as well as teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific achievements (§ 47 LHG).
