A post-doctoral position is available in Dr. Emmanuel Zorn’s lab at the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology to investigate mechanisms of transplant rejection in humans. This NIH-funded study provides a unique opportunity to engage in patient-focused translational research at a premier Transplant Center and contribute to improving clinical outcomes.

The research will particularly investigate the function of immune cells infiltrating heart transplants and elucidate their role in the rejection process. Studies will use a wide range of methods and cutting-edge platforms, including a newly developed serological profiling assay, human cell culture, B and T cell cloning, bulk and 10X single-cell RNA-sequencing, high dimensional flow cytometry and multiplex immunohistochemistry.

We are seeking a creative, independent and driven individual with documented research experience related to this position. Motivated candidates should have a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D with training in immunology and a proven track record of productivity (first authorship in peer-reviewed journal in English is expected). Previous experience in bioinformatics is highly desirable. The successful candidate will also demonstrate strong work ethics, excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to handle multiple projects while working in a collaborative, yet competitive environment.

Columbia University Medical Center is located in uptown Manhattan and provides a world-class scientific environment for biomedical training. The CCTI is a multidisciplinary research center affiliated with many departments and other centers within Columbia University Medical Center. The CCTI was established to promote horizontal translation of applied immunology between different disciplines and to advance immunology from the bench to the clinic.

Applicants should send a full CV, a cover letter highlighting research interests and goals, and the name and contact information of 3 references directly to the Principal Investigator:
