The applicant will be head of the clinical infectious disease unit and will be a member of the steering board of the center of clinical infectious disease at LMU Munich (KLIK). The German board exam of infectious disease is a prerequisite for the position to allow for the full extent of advanced training. We expect the candidate to get involved in the Isolation Ward for Patients with High Consequence Infectious Diseases (SIS) located in Munich. We seek for a national and internationally well recognized clinician with extensive experience in basic and translational research in infectious diseases and a focus on GI-infectious diseases. The professorship provides a link between the theoretical institutes at the DZIF at LMU Munich and the LMU hospital. The unit for clinical infectious disease shall evolve within the structure of the KLIK and help to develop a trendsetting profile. Knowledge in caring for patients with viral hepatitis and HIV is welcome. The position includes a team leading position in clinical care and research in an interdisciplinary team. Ample experience in basic research including microbiota studies is expected. In addition, experience and knowledge in interventional GI-endoscopy is highly appreciated.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification and a board certification in internal medicine. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.

The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.

LMU Munich makes a point of providing newly appointed professors with various types of support, such as welcoming services and assistance for dual career couples.

LMU Munich is an equal opportunity employer. The University continues to be very successful in increasing the number of female faculty members and strongly encourages applications from female candidates. LMU Munich intends to enhance the diversity of its faculty members. Furthermore, disabled candidates with essentially equal qualifications will be given preference.
