The Department of Biological Sciences at Dartmouth College seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Plant Biology.

We seek highly qualified candidates who use molecular, cellular and/or genetic/genomic approaches to address broadly relevant concepts in plant biology including, but not limited to: the interactions of plants and other organisms (e.g. microbes, fungi, animals, or other plants), evolutionary development, genetics, and cell biology. We welcome applicants who study any plant system. Qualified candidates should be prepared to direct an independent research program that will attract extramural funding, provide research training for graduate students in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Dartmouth life sciences research community is highly collaborative and uses a diverse array of approaches to investigate key processes from the molecular to ecosystem level. Faculty in Biological Sciences participate in the university-wide Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB), Integrative Neuroscience at Dartmouth (IND), Ecology, Evolution, Environment and Society (EEES),  and Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS) graduate programs. These programs include investigators in Arts and Sciences, Geisel School of Medicine, and Thayer School of Engineering. Faculty in Biological Sciences are housed in the state-of-the-art Class of 1978 Life Sciences Center with access to many well-resourced multi-user research facilities. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are supported by the Guarini School for Graduate and Advanced Studies, including their diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field. At least one year of relevant post-doctoral research experience is also required. Effective classroom teaching is essential for this position.
