The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, has a Postdoctoral Scholar position immediately available to model genetic cardiomyopathies with human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Yang. By using high-throughput deep mutational scanning techniques in clinically actionable cardiomyopathy genes, we aim to determine the phenotypic consequences of thousands of genetic variants to assist with variant interpretation and to elucidate variant-specific mechanisms. This is an exciting, collaborative project involving functional genomics, cardiovascular disease modeling, stem cell biology, and high-throughput gene-editing and phenotyping. Candidates should be highly motivated and have demonstrated experience in molecular biology and cell culture. Experience with hiPSCs is not mandatory but desirable. This position will primarily be in Dr. Daniel Yang’s laboratory with the opportunity to work closely with collaborators in the Department of Genome Sciences.
This is a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position on an annual, 12-month appointment that is immediately available. Postdoctoral Research are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website.
The base salary range for this position will be $5,705+ per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Experience in the cardiovascular field is preferred, but not required. The successful applicant will design and perform experiments, write manuscripts and participate in Departmental and extramural scholarly activities. Applicants are expected to apply for internal and external funding after obtaining preliminary data. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical and communication skills and willingness to work well with others.
