St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a private, not-for-profit institute that is internationally recognized for its commitment to providing state of the art clinical services, while performing innovative scientific and patient-directed research. The Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy (BMTCT) seeks a highly motivated, faculty-level candidate on the clinician scientist track at the Associate or Full Member level with training in hematology-oncology, bone marrow transplantation, and cellular therapy. Depending on the candidate’s qualification, leadership positions are available within the department. The preferred candidate should have a proven track record in clinical/translational research and clinical care activities, experience in mentorship and fellowship training within the academic setting, and in incorporating quality and/or process improvement into daily clinical practice.
As one of the major transplant and cell therapy centers in the US, the department is FACT accredited since 2006 with an 18-bed dedicated inpatient unit. The department currently has 12 faculty members, who have a strong interest in haplo-identical transplantation, gene therapy for non-malignant disorders including hemoglobinopathies, and adoptive cell therapy with native and genetically modified immune effectors. Most studies are investigator initiated, supported by state-of-the-art cell processing facilities for graft manipulation and cell engineering, and are conducted collaboratively with investigators in other departments, including Oncology, Hematology, and Immunology. As an integral team member of the department, the faculty member is expected to ensure alignment of individual goals with departmental, and institutional strategic goals and initiatives, pursue faculty development, and promote outstanding multidisciplinary research activities and care delivery.
