This position is located within IQuESt, the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety. We are the largest center for Health Services Research within the Southwest. We conduct high-quality scientific research that improves the health of patients across the nation, by helping to ensure the patient-centered delivery of scientific discoveries. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to design and develop database systems and statistical analysis applications to support clinical and basic research. The responsiblities are analyzing and interpreting data for research grants, maintaining clinical practice records, and implementing new statistical techniques through custom computer programs, in addition to assisting and training users on these programs and performing various related duties as assigned.
Job Duties
- Assists in verification and annotation of clinical data.
- Assists in developing clinically relevant questions for the data scientists.
- Assists the data scientist to understand various work flows related to different types of medical practices.
- Assists the team to understanding the treatments and follow ups so the development of NLP would be more accurate.
- Assists in design of big data driven clinical studies 6) Assist in verification of the study data.
- Assists in manuscript development.
- Attends various clinically oriented national meetings to present the study results 9) Assist in writing grant proposals.
- Provides technical expertise as an essential member of collaborative research teams.
- Extracts, manages, and analyzes data in a cloud-computing environment (e.g., VA VINCI).
- Organizes and manipulates administrative health care data and electronic health record data to support answering health services research questions.
- Monitors changes to data sources that may affect data quality or usefulness.
- Alerts team members to potential data quality issues.
- Communicates with corporate data warehouse managers on behalf of the project team for data acquisition and troubleshooting.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- MD or PhD in machine learning, data science or engineering, with two years of clinical experience.
- Successful candidates will have strong clinical background and an interest in population level data analytics. \
- The ideal candidate is a MD or PhD with some experience in clinical research.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records is preferred.
