Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India, IISc is India’s top-ranked research institution with existing strengths in all branches of science and engineering. IISc is establishing post-graduate medical school with a 832-bed hospital to nucleate India’s first comprehensive interdisciplinary physician-scientist training program (https://medicine.iisc.ac.in/). This will provide an outstanding environment for the recruited faculty to conduct cutting-edge research in collaboration with natural sciences and engineering departments. IISc is inviting applications for faculty positions as Assistant Professor in multiple disciplines. Broad specialty departments include General Medicine, Microbiology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Geriatrics, and Radiodiagnosis. The successful applicants should have an MD or MD/ PhD or MS or completed appropriate international qualification such as residency with board certification in the specialty area of consideration. Super specialties where recruitment will take place include Endocrinology, Cardiology, Pulmonary medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Medical Oncology, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, Medical Gastroenterology, Urology, Neurosurgery, and Surgical Oncology. The successful applicants should have DM or MCh or completed appropriate international qualification such as a fellowship with board certification in the specialty area of consideration. For positions in public health, a successful applicant will have MD/MS/DNB/DM/MCh followed by appropriate postgraduate qualification in community medicine/ epidemiology, or have a PhD in community medicine/epidemiology, or have an equivalent international degree. We are particularly interested in candidates who have the potential for a strong clinical and research focus, as well as prioritizing a research-based career, with the goal of obtaining independent funding and establishing national and international expertise. The major criteria for appointment for faculty shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and excellence in research.
