ABOUT ASARI
The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) is a component of theMohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). It is located in Laayoune City and constitutes astructure of practical-based research with a vision of solving real Local, Regional, and Africanagriculture challenges leveraging up-to-date science and technology.
Oriented towards Africa, ASARI acts in connection with a wide network of universities andresearch centers around the continent in order to link real field issues with up-to-date science.The institute consists of a multidisciplinary team of agronomists, biochemists, molecularbiologists, bioprocess specialists, animal scientist, etc to respond to regional challenges affectingmarginal environments.
ASARI is composed of three main research programs:
• AgriBioTechnology program leverages up to date technologies in the service of the SouthernMoroccan and Sub-Saharan agriculture challenges. Its ambition is to conduct relevant andcutting-edge research on plant/crop improvement, biosaline agriculture, valorization of localagricultural and marine resources, and animal nutrition and reproduction with a positive impacton the African agriculture.
• Water treatment and management program which is oriented towards the development ofcost-effective desalinization processes for agriculture use and water treatment, management andanalysis.
• Renewable energy program that is aiming to develop new approaches for the production ofclean energy to address real local and regional challenges.

JOB SUMMARY
ASARI is seeking a professor holding a PhD in Veterinary Sciences with experience to join ourteam of animal sciences and participate in the development of our projects dealing with small(sheep, goat) and large animals (camels, cattle). The candidate must be comfortable with takingresponsibilities in a competitive environment and lead scientific projects in animal sciences.

JOB RESPONSABILITIES
• Leading and developing projects in animal sciences
• Providing basic husbandry, handling, and health surveillance of laboratory animals.
• Maintaining inventory of animal supplies and providing basic technical assistance (i.e.,restraint, injections, blood collections) in support of research studies.
• Providing innovative ideas and focus on veterinary questions that will help in making UM6P-ASARI-Laayoune ready to achieve new milestones and help animal keepers across southern

• Identifying, establishing, and developing infrastructure appropriate for the incorporation ofresearch about veterinary sciences.
• Assisting in the internal and external services of the department.
• A high degree of flexibility is expected from the candidate.
• Research proposal writing for external funding
• Report writing for research project
• Manuscript writing and publication in referee journal.
The candidate will also be expected to help maintain all field and laboratory equipment, ordersupplies as needed, and help maintain research plot records and. Responsibilities also involvefrequent travelling to different areas in Morocco and Africa.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• PhD in Veterinary Medicine.
• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the field.
• Didactic and communicative qualities.
• Engagement in other professional activities and/or have demonstrable experience that cancontribute to the quality of practice-related education.
• High interested in scientific and/or project-based research and service.
• Considering the job content, there are high expectations regarding social and organisationalskills. The candidate should be able to work as part of a team, to communicate fluently with staffand stakeholders from different disciplines and of different levels and should have the necessaryflexibility and resistance to stress to change the order of the tasks according to the serviceneeds.
• The ability to communicate fluently in Arabic, English is also a requirement. French is a plus.
• Ability to supervise and train staff and students
• Analytical skills related to statistics and budget preparation,
• Good publications record in refereed journals
• Experience in working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to initiate, conduct, and publish research in a scientific manner and to obtain externalgrant funding
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of statistics and database management
• Supervisory experience
