The Department of Chemical Sciences at TIFR (https://www.tifr.res.in/~dcs/) invites outstanding candidates for tenure-track faculty positions in chemistry. Interested candidates should note that TIFR will be the appropriate abode for those seeking a progressive, supportive, non-hierarchical and internationally competitive research environment. Exceptional candidates in any area of chemistry will be considered however, there will be a preference for the following research areas:
- Chemical Biology and Health [Chemical synthetic biology focused towards living devices/expanding the genetic code/synthetic life, Bioorthogonal chemistry and synthetic methodologies for infectious diseases, Biophysics related to diseases]
- Energy and Environmental Chemistry [Catalysis and materials tackling climate change, Surfaces & interfacial spectroscopy, Imaging techniques to probe surfaces and buried interfaces]
- Chemistry in Quantum Technologies [Theoretical/Computational material science, Quantum computing]
- Programs in Advanced Spectroscopy and development of new techniques [TEM for structure determination and materials characterization, 3D-Correlative microscopy, Solid state NMR spectroscopy, Optical spectroscopy and high-resolution imaging]
Applicants with a strong academic profile (Ph.D. plus a few years of post-doctoral experience is required), a good publication record, and an inclination towards collaborative/interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to implement a clearly defined research plan (as outlined in a detailed research proposal) and establish independent research groups. They will have access to an internationally competitive start-up package, continuing intramural support and graduate students from India’s finest Ph.D. program.
