APPOINTMENT TERMS

Westlake Fellows work as full-time principal investigators and have full access to Westlake’s state-of-the-art facilities for a period of three years, which can be renewed for another three years after evaluation. Start dates are flexible. The Program is an excellent opportunity for researchers to start their careers, free from the need to raise their own grant support or the distractions of classroom teaching. Westlake Fellows can also seek additional external funding. 

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates should be about to be awarded a doctoral degree or within two years of obtaining a doctoral degree and haven’t been employed as an assistant/associate professor or full professor (or equivalent). Candidates can be nominated by a senior investigator who can thoroughly analyze their accomplishments and future potential. We also welcome direct applications from exceptional candidates.

HOW TO APPLY

Submit in one PDF file: a letter of intent, your CV, a research plan (up to 2 pages) for the three-year term, and a list of Westlake Faculty members with whom you would like to collaborate (up to 2 pages).

Arrange to have the nomination letter and/or three additional reference letters, submitted by the nominators or referees directly.

WESTLAKE VISITING PROFESSORSHIP

The Program also seeks Assistant/Associate/Full Professors (or equivalent) at institutions worldwide as Westlake Visiting Professors to Westlake campus on a short-term basis for collaborative research, seeking to create a unique international intellectual community to break the geographical barrier for multidisciplinary research. Westlake Visiting Professors shall be nominated by Westlake University faculty members; direct applications and self-nominations are not accepted.
