The Münch lab and Institute of Molecular Systems Medicine at the Goethe University Frankfurt (https://molsysmed.de/) invites applications for

2 Postdoctoral positions (f/m/d, E 13, TV-G-U)

to study cellular stress responses, proteostasis or projects on autophagy within the new ERC Consolidator Grant autoxitus. The position is to be filled as soon as possible and originally limited to 2 years with the option of extension.

We aim to understand how cells respond to stress, using biochemical, cell biology and/or omics approaches. Some of our main research questions are on the mitochondrial unfolded protein response (Sutandy et al. Nature 2023), mitophagy and mitochondrial import and folding (Michaelis et al. Nat Commun 2022, Schäfer et al. Mol Cell 2022), cytosolic stress responses (Klann et al. Mol Cell 2020), and stress in the context of different diseases (Klann et al. Nature 2020, Mol Cell 2020, Koschade et al. 2022 Leukemia). We aim to understand how cell responses work on a molecular and global level and what are its roles in aging and disease. In addition, we have a range of other research interests, which can be found here: https://molsysmed.de/.

We are looking for outstanding and ambitious scientists with interdisciplinary experience and a PhD degree in life sciences. Candidates should have an extensive background in one of the following disciplines: cell biology, biochemistry, proteomics, genetics, and/or advanced microscopy.

We offer a job full of variety in an in interdisciplinary and international team that is driven to do cutting-edge research. Enthusiastic and self-driven candidates can take advantage of access to a wide range of state-of-the art technologies in the context of biological and biomedical research. We have a range of interesting research topics and well-established collaborations with scientists and clinicians to get access to advanced model systems and clinical materials. We offer a salary according to TV-G-U, internal and external training for professional development, the compatibility of family and career and a free ticket to public transport within the state of Hesse (LandesTicket Hessen).

Application. Formal electronic applications summarized in one PDF document including a cover/motivation letter and CV (including contact data for 2-3 referees) need to be addressed to Prof. Christian Münch (ch.muench@em.uni-frankfurt.de) referencing “2024 Postdoc”. Travel and application expenses cannot be reimbursed.

The University is committed to gender equality and therefore strongly encourages women to apply. People with disabilities are given priority, if they are equally qualified. In the summer of 2005, Goethe University was awarded the basic certificate for the family-friendly university audit. Great importance is attached to the family-friendly organization of university work contexts. Career re-entry after parental leave is encouraged. Jobs are generally divisible as long as the tasks do not conflict with this. The limitation of the contract is based upon the regulations of the “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz” in conjunction with the “Hessischen Hochschulgesetz”.
