Program: Advance Materials


  • Synthesis of porous materials, especially metal-organic frameworks (MoFs), Covalent organic frameworks (CoFs), and others.
  • Synthesis of nanomaterials such as metal oxide nanoparticles, graphene oxide, zeolites, and nano-clays.
  • Hands-on experience on handling different characterization techniques such as XRD, BET, SEM, TEM, FTIR, TGA, and Raman.
  • Interpretation and analysis of the test data of different materials characterization techniques mentioned above.
  • Testing, modifying and evaluating the performance of different materials (and combinations of materials) for different qualities
  • Experience in different carbon capture techniques, such as direct air capture and post-combustion capture.
  • Experience in different techniques of gas storage especially hydrogen storage.
  • Experience in writing research manuscripts and project reports.
  • Basic knowledge of molecular dynamics simulation software.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis using different analytical tools and software such as Origin, Microsoft Excel, and Matlab.
  • Demonstrable abilities for effective English written and oral communication.


  • To help and contribute to different research projects of the Advance Materials research program.
  •  Conduct experiments and research activities in the laboratory.
  • Prepare timely project progress reports and presentations.
  • Contribute to securing relevant Intellectual Property on the team’s projects.
  • Deliver Advance Materials projects by a hands-on activity, ensuring they meet project aims.
  • Contribute to team meetings by reporting ongoing works.
  • Involvement in the purchase of different laboratory requirements such as chemicals, consumables and glassware.
  • Maintain a technology watch on emerging carbon capture and gas storage trends in their area of expertise and disseminate the relevant information to team members.
  • Generally, contribute to fostering a friendly, ambitious, impactful, and productive team and working environment.

Education and Certification Requirements


  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, and related areas with a focus on Materials synthesis, characterization, and their application in gas storage such as CO2 and hydrogen storage with equivalent industry/academic experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience after Masters.

The candidate should be comfortable working as member of a dynamic, research-oriented group with several ongoing concurrent projects across multiple areas but also manage individual tasks independently. Thinking out of the box and comfort in bridging cross-disciplinary silos to conduct innovative research are strongly desirable qualities.

Duration: 1-2 years with potential for extension, This will not be a direct DEWA hire but through a subsidiary.
