Funded PhD-Position in the project “Developing a public awareness campaign for back pain in Germany: a participative research approach (BACKCamPAIN)

The Hochschule für Gesundheit Bochum (University of Applied Sciences Bochum) offers a 65% (28.9 h per week) position over four years, which is to be filled at the next possible timepoint and latest 1st November 2024. The successful candidate will be remunerated at pay band E13 TV-L.

Your duties

  • As research fellow, you will coordinate and implement the “Developing a public awareness campaign for back pain in Germany: a participative research approach (BACKCamPAIN) ” project, which is funded by the Hochschule für Gesundheit
  • The project involves co-ordinating, with national and international partners, three key workpackages including a quantitative and qualitative online survey, qualitative survey in co-creation design and pilot intervention study in mixed methods design.
  • Learning and implementing the quantitative and qualitative, as well as mixed-methods data collection and analysis methods, as well as the coordination and and writing of peer-reviewed publications
  • Cooperation and collaboration within the wider research team

Your profile:

  • Masters degree (or international equivalent) in physiotherapy, exercise science, sports science, medicine, health science or rehabilitation science, as well as experience in research.
  • Fulfilling the formal criteria for enrolling as a PhD student in the Promotionskollegs NRW (PK NRW) (see requirements, in German, of the Abteilung Soziales und Gesundheit der PK NRW)
  • Very good spoken and written English, including scientific communication in English
  • Proven ability to work in teams
  • Experience in the methodology of online surveys and qualitative research methods is advantageous
  • Experience in project coordination, planning and implementation of (online) surveys (e.g. via LimeSurvey), statistical analysis (e.g. R), writing scientific publications and external funding project applications is desirable.
  • Fluent German is a prerequisite for this position
